The Run for the Cure starts at 9:30 Sunday at St. Heorge's Square
Runners begin the 12th annual Guelph Downtown 5K Run near the corner of Wyndham and Woolwich streets last Saturday morning. About 300 registered runners competed in the race that wound through the downtown core. The event, supported by over 100 volunteers, raised about $16,000 for the Guelph Community Health Centre, which provides primary and early years health care as well as community outreach programs for vulnerable groups. Another big run goes Sunday starting at St. George’s Square. The Run for the Cure sees an 8 a.m. final registration/donation drop-off, 9 a.m. opening ceremonies, 9:20 a.m. warm-up and a 9:30 a.m. start time for runners and walkers. The event wraps up at 11 a.m. with an awards celebration.
