Action Read offers course on customer service

Action Read Community Literacy Centre has launched a training program to help younger workers get better at customer service and handling cash.
The free Cash Register Training Course is an 18-hour course for people ages 19 to 29 that covers basic financial calculation and technology skills.
The course aims to help young adults develop skills required to get jobs available in retail and customer service industries that are available to people who are comfortable and confident in using a cash register and dealing with the general public, a news release said.
Skills covered include counting money, making change, reading documents, and how to use a basic cash register and point-of-sale system. Learners will also be taught customer service skills, such as communicating and presenting oneself in a professional manner.
The course runs Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. The first session is already underway. But a second session starts Feb. 11 and runs to Feb. 27. Another session will run March 4 to 20. Each session is limited to six participants.
For more information call Joanne Morant at 519-836-2759 or visit Action Read at 2 Quebec St., Suite 220.
