Backpack project needs help

The Backpack Project has stuffed more than 800 backpacks with school supplies for those in need and wants your help to fill another 400 more.

There are still 400 children on the waitlist, hoping to receive a sponsor from the Backpack Project.

Children go through an application process, and receive backpacks filled with supplies that match their grade needs. Some of the items include a lunch bag, pencils, ice packs, binders, duotangs, scissors and glue sticks.

Community members are being asked to adopt a child to pack a backpack and supplies to get them through the school year.

Each bag is worth approximately $75, and monetary donations are also accepted.

The Backpack Project is run by a group of local agencies under the umbrella of HOPE House.

To sponsor a child and pack a backpack with supplies, email backpackproject@lakesidehopehouse.ca.
