Black Tie Bingo another hit

The Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital’s annual Black Tie Bingo gala has been declared a success after the event raised a net total of $177,305 – money that will be used to buy equipment for the hospital’s surgical program.
“It was an incredible event with incredible results, thanks to the collective efforts of so many – sponsors, guests, prize donors, volunteers and staff,” foundation president Suzanne Bone said in a news release. At Guelph General, about half of the money spent on patient care equipment comes from donors, the release said.
This year’s gala fundraiser brought the 18-year cumulative total for the event to more than $2 million, it said.
The sold-out event was attended by 430 guests who bid on more than 150 live and silent auction prizes, including trips, spa packages, jewelry and more. There was also a raffle and a bingo game with a grand prize of a trip for two to the Bahamas.
