Book sale ‘fantastic’ success

Connie Crawford checks out the choice of books on offer at the sixth annual Giant Used Book Sale, held by Friends of the Guelph Public Library to raise money towards a future new main library on Wyndham Street North. The three-day weekend event netted $60,000, which is 50 per cent more than the net proceeds from last year’s book sale, said organizing committee co-chair Brenda Elliott, terming it a “fantastic” success. Elliott thanked those who donated books and other items, as well as everyone who attended the sale. “It doesn’t happen without them, and we are thrilled,” she said Monday. The sale in the Fastforms industrial building on Massey Road included not only books, but also CDs, computer games, puzzles and more.
