The Kirking ceremony helped raise food and funds for Chalmers Community Services and the Welcome In Drop In Centre.
Piper Robin Aggus leads a ceremonial parade of local dignitaries Sunday into the Church of Our Lady. Called a Kirking ceremony, the annual Guelph Historical Society event recognizes public service to the community. Prior to the parade from Guelph Civic Museum to the church, special guests Jan Sherman and Heather Blair shared aspects of their First Nations culture and spirituality with participants. About 300 people attended the service that also helped raise 500 pounds of food and $800 for Chalmers Community Services and the Welcome In Drop In Centre.
