GUELPHTRIBUNE.CA COMMUNITY IS SPONSORED BY:

Coalition a finalist for green award

A Guelph-based coalition of agriculture-related associations has been named as a finalist for a national environmental award.
Provision Coalition is one of three finalists in this year’s GLOBE Awards, which will be handed out March 28 in Vancouver.
It’s a finalist for the Association Award for Sustainable Leadership, which is presented to an organization representing an industry, sector, or business collaboration.
The awards are presented by the GLOBE Foundation, a not-for-profit private business foundation established to promote the business case for sustainable development, a news release said.
“We’re honoured and pleased to be recognized,” Provision Coalition executive director Cher Mereweather said in the release. “This tells us we’re headed in the right direction.”
Provision is a coalition of 11 associations representing the sustainability interests of food and beverage manufacturing and input supply sectors across Canada.
Founded in 2010 under a federal-provincial-territorial initiative called Growing Forward, it provides resources, programming and advocacy, focusing on sustainability.
