Among those who took part in Saturday’s Curl for Choice Sunday at the Guelph Curling Club were Karen Crevier (left), and Joan McLeod. The Curl for Choice is a fun bonspiel in memory of Judy Folkard, who suffered from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and died in January 2011. Before she died, she asked her husband to promise to work for change so that no one else should suffer at the end of life as she did. That same year, Bruce Folkard started the annual curling fundraiser. The event supports Dying With Dignity, an organization working to educate about and advocate for patients rights, and providing information about end-of-life options for people facing the prospect of an unbearable death. In its first year, the event raised $6,000, which it matched this year.
