"I want to thank Gord and Anna Marie Oliver, the owners of 58 Dawson Rd., for their cooperation and help during the relocation of Willowdale," said Wellington County Warden Chris White.
The Willowdale Child Care and Learning Centre reopened today, Nov. 10, at a new location after being closed for nearly a week.
“The County of Wellington and the City of Guelph worked very hard to get the new location up and running as soon as possible,” said Wellington County’s Warden Chris White, in a news release.
“I want to thank Gord and Anna Marie Oliver, the owners of 58 Dawson Rd., for their cooperation and help during the relocation of Willowdale. Their community mindedness is much appreciated,” he said.
Some fifty children, along with staff of the municipal daycare on Willow Road were evacuated Nov. 1 when tests confirmed the presence of asbestos in the insulation.
Though further air-quality testing deemed health risks to those who had occupied the building to be low, the city-owned building will no longer be used as a daycare.
The new location, at the former Noel’s daycare, behind the Anne Marie Oliver School of Dance, is just around the corner from the old building, and the county was able to continue to accommodate all the children there.
“The County would like to thank the parents of the children enrolled at Willowdale for their patience during this unexpected move to the new centre,” said count chief administrative officer Scott Wilson, in the release.
Parent who have questions about the new child care centre are directed to call the county’s director of child care services Luisa Della Croce at 519-827-7205.
