Event fosters news businesses

Have you ever wanted to launch your own business, but aren’t sure where to start? In just 54 hours, the Guelph’s Startup Weekend will help you learn how to launch your own business and become a successful entrepreneur.
The Startup Weekend takes place August 15 to 17 at the University of Guelph’s McLaughlin Library. Participants will pitch their idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams are then formed from the top ideas and then it turns into a 54-hour frenzy. Everything from business model creation, coding, design and marketing are taken into consideration.
In general, attendees have either a business or technical background and they all share a common interest in entrepreneurship, and end up networking or receiving feedback from peers.
Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and the event runs until Sunday night. Accommodations are available at the university dorms. For more information or to register, visit Guelph.startupweekend.org.
