Events celebrate retreat house 50th

The Ignatius Jesuit Centre is marking the 50th anniversary of its retreat house with a series of events this year celebrating “the seasons of Loyola House.”
Loyola House started in 1964 as a weekend retreat house, but it developed into a centre of spirituality, a news release said.
The house now has a “well-earned reputation in the world for its Ignatian retreat” – retreats that continue to take place, the release said. It also educates directors through its training programs.
The Jesuit centre will begin celebrations of the retreat house with an open house on April 5, including a mass at 5 p.m. and a reception at 6 p.m. Three celebration dinners will take place on May 1, June 12 and Nov. 13, with each event also including a mass at 5 p.m., followed by dinner. Tickets for these events must be purchased in advance, as seating is limited.
The centre is also hosting a Wisdom for Life’s Journey lecture series with presentations, reflection and sharing drawn from experiences of the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, the release said. Upcoming lectures take place on April 10 and 29, and May 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. A free-will offering will be collected. For more information, visit or call 519-824-1250.
