Fairtrade Africa chair comes to Guelph Sept. 20

Fair Trade Guelph and Engineers Without Borders from the University of Guelph are partnering to host a talk by chair of the board of Fairtrade Africa Adam Tampuri on Sept. 12.
Fairtrade Africa represents Fairtrade certified producers across Africa, offering them support to secure better deals and contributing to sustainable development.
Tampur is also serves on the boards of Fairtrade Germany and the Fairtrade Foundation in the United Kingdom, and chairs the Fairtrade-certified Gbankuliso Cashew Farmers Association. He will present his talk on Fair Trade on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. at Planet Bean’s Wyndham Street location.
“We are honoured to have the opportunity to host Chief Adam Tampuri,” founding Fair Trade Guelph member Sarah Martin said in a news release.
Fairtrade refers to an alternative way of trading and supporting producers to ensure that farmers and artisans behind the products are compensated fairly for their work and can build long-term meaningful trade relationships.
