Family donates mobile stage to Market Square

A multi-purpose, accessible mobile stage has been donated to the city for use in Market Square, the civic square outside city hall.
The joint donation, made by the Macquarie Group and the Mactaggart family, was announced by Mayor Karen Farbridge at the second annual Mayor’s New Year’s levee at city hall on Saturday afternoon.
“We’re pleased for the opportunity to help animate Market Square with events, activities and performances for the benefit of the entire community,” Earl Evans, CEO and head of Macquarie Private Wealth, said in a news release.
“Our family is thrilled to see that Market Square has become a lively public gathering space, and we’re pleased to extend our support through the Mactaggart Family Fund to further contribute to the well-being of our community,” said Will Mactaggart. The Mactaggart Family Fund is administered by the Guelph Community Foundation.
Part of the new stage was used during the levee by Jack Grunsky, who provided musical entertainment in the Galleria inside city hall.
