Just peachy
One-year-old Rowan Reynard bites into a juicy peach at the Guelph Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning. He was there checking out all the fresh produce and flowers with his dad, Kevin. 184723 Calm waters A man sits quietly waiting for a fish to bite at the York Road ponds on Saturday afternoon. A sprinkling of people walking dogs were also on the jail lands Saturday before rain descended on the city later in the day. 184715 Then & NOW: Massey Hall 184714 Busking for change Dave McCarron donates some change to Liam Titcomb’s (left) coast-to-coast charity tour on Monday afternoon. Titcomb’s performance in St. George’s Square was the halfway mark of his 50-city busking tour of Canada. He hopes to raise money and awareness for War Child Canada. War Child Canada is a charity dedicated to providing assistance to war-affected children around the world. Titcomb has no set goal but is happy to spread the word about War Child Canada. He began his tour at the beginning of the summer in St. John’s, Nfld., and is planning to end in Victoria, B. C. by the end of this month. 184712 Gators sixth The Guelph Gators finished sixth overall out of 16 teams at the national midget fastpitch championships which concluded on Sunday in Brampton.

The Gators’ tournament ended with a 2-1 loss to the White Rock Renegades, the eventual gold medalists.

The Manitoba Angels won silver and the Mississauga North Tigers won bronze.

On Friday night, the Gators, who won the provincial title right here in Guelph, topped host Brampton 3-2 in extra innings.

The locals finished the tournament with a 6-3 record.

Garry Wallace of Guelph was up early Saturday morning to take a look at items up for sale at a friend’s yard sale on Elizabeth Street. Here, he takes a closer look at an old milk jug among the ‘treasures’ up for sale. 184711 Swing and a miss Jeff Reitzel gives it his all last week at Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club during the fourth annual Andrew Long charity tournament. About 100 golfers were out, including Armando Montelongo of U. S. television show Flip This House. Each year Long, a former Guelph Storm player, donates event proceeds to a group involved with mental health issues.
