In an example of how the organization’s lottery funds are used to help the local community, the Royal Canadian Legion Colonel John McCrae Memorial Branch 234 presented a cheque for $4,000 to the Welcome In Drop In Centre. The main focus of the event was a community seed exchange where people dropped off seeds they’d saved from gardens and took other seeds they wanted. The “Seedy Saturday” event was also a chance for people to learn about different kinds of seeds, including seeds considered endangered, said Guelph Enabling Garden horticultural therapist Lea Tran.
