Christine Bermingham, a first-year University of Guelph student, swabs her cheek during the university’s Get Swabbed! University Challenge event. The event, held Nov. 22 on campus, saw a total of 1,041 people getting swabbed to join OneMatch, Canada’s bone marrow and stem cell network. The school is competing against university campuses across the country to be the campus that registers the most potential donors. The goal of the competition is to recruit young, diverse donors. About 160 volunteers helped out at the event. Guelph won the challenge last year and hopes to defend its title. The challenge wraps up Nov. 30.
