Immigration issues focus of all-day forum coming up

The Guelph-Wellington Local Immigration Partnership is inviting community members to “The Immigration Connection: Creating Collective Impact” on March 4 at the Hanlon Convention Centre.
The free, day-long event will feature special guests Nuzhat Jafri, executive director in the Office of the Fairness Commissioner; Uzma Shakir, the City of Toronto’s director of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Human Rights; and Paul Born, president and co-founder of Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement.
As well, the event will include local dignitaries and an overview of the partnership’s work and accomplishments in 2013-14, a presentation of immigration data for Guelph-Wellington and a chance to help the organization set new priorities for 2014 to 2016, a news release said.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but people are asked to arrive between 8:30 and 9 a.m. for registration. People are asked to RSVP online at bit.ly/1biD87A.
