Joy of scouting

With a new Scouting year getting underway, a media event involving several local Scouting volunteers and youths was held last Friday to show off the attractions of the program for five- to 25-year-olds. Here, Andrew Shutsa of the 17th Guelph Beavers gets tips on using a bow and arrow from David Millie, an Ontario council youth commissioner for Scouts Canada. Several youths and volunteers talked about Scouting during the event at the Barber Scout Camp on Stone Road East before showing off some of the outdoor things they do. Andrew, 7, said he’s looking forward to outdoor camping when he advances to Cubs next year.
