Katimavik seeks billets

A national organization focused on volunteer learning opportunities for youth is looking for local families willing to billet youth from across Canada.
A new group of Katimavik volunteers – six young women and five young men – arrived in Guelph on Jan. 4 and they will live in the community for the next six months.
They are volunteering five days a week at local non-profit organizations, including the Guelph Food Bank, the Hillside Foundation and the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph.
As part of the Katimavik program, the youth will spend 11 days, from Feb. 2 to 12, with a host family in the region in order to get a better sense of the culture and local life of the community, a news release said.
Each hosting family receives a stipend to offset costs. Those interested in hosting are asked to call 519-767-5708. For more information on Katimavik, visit www.katimavik.org.
