The Guelph Public Library’s inaugural “Evening for Book Lovers” fundraising dinner has been declared a success, raising more than $13,000 toward the campaign for a new main library branch.
More than 160 people attended the sold-out murder mystery dinner event, which also included a silent auction, a raffle and book signings, a news release said.
The Crime Writers of Canada and local mystery authors Michelle Wan, Alison Bruce and Gloria Ferris were on hand to sign books at the event, and the Mysterious Players kept guest entertained during dinner. The event was hosted by Magic 106.1 FM’s Kevin Kelly and Lisa Richards and sponsored by Meridian Credit Union.
Funds raised will support the library’s $10-million campaign for a new main library.
