Mayor Karen Farbridge is accepting nominations for an annual award that recognizes city residents who are making a difference through service to the community.
Previous winners of the annual Mayor’s Awards have made contributions in many areas of community life, including the arts and culture sector, the environment, health and mental health, labour, multiculturalism, and sports and recreation, a news release said.
The 2013 Mayor’s Awards will be presented at the Guelph Awards of Excellence dinner gala on June 27. Winners will receive a special framed print created by a Guelph artist.
A nomination package is available at guelph.ca/mayorsawards or by contacting the mayor’s office at mayor@guelph.ca or 519-837-5643.
Nominations, which must include contact information for both the nominator and the candidate, must be received no later than April 19.
“There are many outstanding residents making a difference in our community who tend to go about their work without being recognized,” Farbridge said in the release.
“I am always thrilled to honour such Guelphites, and I look forward to reading this year’s nominations.”
