Musicians will be performing at each kilometre mark during a fundraising race on the evening of Wednesday July 9.
The Guelph Symphony Orchestra is partnering again this year with the Speed River Track and Field Club and the Guelph Victors in the “Summer’s Night Classical 5k,” which begins at 8:30 p.m. at the Guelph Youth Music Centre.
“This fundraising race is an opportunity to support the orchestra, while joining musicians and community members on a beautiful summer evening run or walk,” a news release said.
The course passes through the scenic Homewood grounds and returns through the Trans-Canada trail. “Your sound track as you pass through this fast, flat course will be live musicians at each kilometre mark,” it said.
New this year is the 500-metre Da Capo walk, which people can register for that evening. “You can complete the loop as often as you’d like, but only until the 5K ends,” the release said.
Racers should arrive at 7 p.m. for an 8:30 start.
