Waverley Neighbourhood Group is looking for people with a passion for working with children and youth to help out with its after-school programs.
The group runs three fall programs – one on Monday, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, with each running from 3:15 to 5 p.m.
Monday’s After School Club includes games, sports, crafts, story time, snack and more, while Tuesday’s club focuses on tutoring children through their homework and reading skills.
On Wednesdays, the group partners with the Julien Project at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre to offer a program that uses therapeutic gardening to stimulate children mentally, emotionally and physically, a news release said.
The Wednesday program begins Sept. 19 and runs to Nov. 21; the Monday and Tuesday clubs begin Sept. 24 and 25 respectively and run to Nov. 19 and 20.
A youth drop-in centre at Crestwicke Baptist Church is also planned for Friday evenings
Volunteers interested are asked to contact program supervisor Jeff Zeffer at 519-821-9677.
