A Guelph woman who says her new downtown clothing store is choosing its suppliers partly based on their social business practices will hold a grand opening event for the store in early September.
Eighty per cent of clothes sold in North America are made in sweatshops, but Grey Rock Clothing Co. is going to change this by selling “stylish sweatshop-free clothing,” a news release said. “We believe people are willing to do the right thing if there’s a choice that’s stylish and comes with great customer service,” owner Beth Timlin said in the release.
Timlin, who has lived in Guelph for two years, has travelled the world and seen the difference that can be made when consumers choose products that “support fair and equitable working conditions,” the release said. Grey Rock Clothing Co. will have its grand opening event at 29 Quebec St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8.
