A new LCBO outlet that includes a walk-in beer cold room has opened near the west end Zehrs.
The 9,400-sq.-ft. store at 995 Paisley Rd., which opened Monday, has a walk-in beer cold room with a wide selection of beers, including Ontario craft beers and ready-to-drink cocktails and coolers, a news release said.
“The cold room uses outside air for several months of the year, rather than refrigerated air, which keeps the cold room cool at little to no cost with significant environmental benefits,” the release said. “It can cut electricity use by up to 10 per cent.”
The store, which is Guelph’s fifth LCBO outlet, also includes a prominent Ontario wines display at the front of the store showcasing 350 Ontario wines. Many chilled wines are available, the release said.
The store, which has a gift section and a tasting bar, has five checkouts including a customer service counter. There are 50 parking spots, as well as the plaza parking.
The store’s 12 full-time and part-time employees include a product consultant, who can advise customers and licensees on menu and party planning, cellaring wine and stocking a bar.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday.
