Philopolis Guelph a philosophy festival

Getting the public together with academic philosophers to find a common language and engage in meaningful discussion is the goal of a philosophy festival taking place Saturday in downtown Guelph.
“Both academic philosophers and the broader public stand to benefit greatly through this kind of exchange – free of jargon, of minced words, and of exclusionary assumptions,” a news release said.
Philopolis Guelph aims to facilitate this type of exchange through panel discussions, workshops and activities of many kinds, the release said.
Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Planet Bean Café and at The Bookshelf. Lunch will be at the Guelph Public Library from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Philopolis welcomes and encourages the curious of mind from all backgrounds to take part, the release said.
There will also be a social kick-off event on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Albion Hotel.
The event is organized by students at the University of Guelph, and it is the second such event. The first Philopolis Guelph event was held in March.
