Program helps people Take Charge

The Guelph Community Health Centre is teaming up with the Waterloo Wellington Self-Management Program to offer a free six-week program for people living with ongoing health conditions.
Participants in the Take Charge program might include people living with arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, depression and chronic pain. They will learn ways to manage stress, make healthier food choices and add exercise to their daily lives, a news release said.
The workshops run every Friday from Feb. 1 to March 8, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at St. David and St. Patrick Church, 520 Speedvale Ave. E.
The program is open to the public, with a special focus on those living in the Brant neighbourhood, the release said.
Family members and caregivers of people living with chronic health conditions are also welcome to attend. A light, healthy snack will be provided.
The registration deadline is Wednesday Jan. 30. To register, call 1-866-337-3318, email selfmanagement@langs.org, or visit www.wwselfmanagement.ca.
