Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph wants to get people to celebrate Valentine’s Day differently – by pitching in on a local build site.
The organization is holding a Valentine’s Week Build from Feb. 12 to 15 at its Women Build site at 299 Paisley Rd.
Singles are invited to work onsite Tuesday Feb. 12 and Wednesday Feb. 13. Then after building for the day, participants will be invited to an “After Build Drinks & Appetizers Social” at the Ox restaurant, 37 Quebec St., from 4 to 5 p.m.
Couples builds will take place on Feb. 14 and 15, with the participants invited to an after-build event at the Joint Café, 43 Cork St. E., from 5 to 6 p.m.
“Volunteers won’t just be building a home, they’ll build lasting memories and relationships with each other – and that’s priceless,” Habitat executive director Diane Nelson said in a news release. There is a cost to participate, but all tools, equipment and instruction will be provided and no experience is necessary, the release said.
