Rotary Club spelling bee pays dividends

Six charitable organizations were the recipients of Bee donations last week as the Rotary Club of Guelph South handed out the last of the funds raised in the Rotary year just ended.
The club disbursed the final proceeds of last year’s Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee to representatives from KidsAbility, Salvation Army, Royal City Church, Christian Gleaners, Friends of Ile a Vache, and Friends of Orphans. Donations ranged from $500 to $2,000, a news release said.
The club is now gearing up for its next spelling bee fundraiser, which will take place Oct. 18 at the Delta hotel.
This year’s event will support Wyndham House, Guelph Wish Fund and the club’s Nicaraguan Jam project.
The club is looking for both sponsors and teams of spellers to take part in the event. For more information, contact Brian at 519-763-1268 or Paul at 519-763-2667.
