Screening pedals bicycle-friendly cities

Cycling-friendly cities will be the theme of a film screening and panel discussion on Wednesday March 12 at Planet Bean downtown.
The 7 p.m. event, offered by the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation, the Resilience Festival and Transition Guelph, will feature a screening of David Chernushenko’s film Bike City Great City.
Chernushenko, an Ottawa city councillor, wants Ottawa to be a better city for cycling, and his film takes viewers on a ride to find out how it can be done, a news release said. He shows how European cities have set the gold standard for cycling and quality of life, and he looks at what some North American cities are doing right.
Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with Guelph transportation demand manager Jennifer Juste, CAA’s Christine Allum and the transportation coalition’s Yvette Tendick.
The event is sponsored by Wike Trailers, Backpeddling, Speed River Cycle and Planet Bean.
