University of Guelph music student Michelle Bruno is not defeated by defeat. The singer had the chance to be the CNE’s next rising star, competing in the Ex’s Rising Star Talent Competition in Toronto last month. Bruno made it to the semi-final round in the junior category for youth ages 13 to 21 before being cut from the competition, but says the experience was good. The judges “were tough, but they were good. They gave us a lot of helpful criticism,” she says. She plans to go out for the competition again next year, and in the meantime people can look for her in the university’s next musical production.
