There are free carousel rides at Riverside Park on Dec. 15, 21 and 30 after 6 p.m. and on Dec. 31 at 5:30 p.m.
Sydney Petrie, a Grade 10 co-op student at College Heights high school, is working outdoors this week, helping to get Riverside Park decked out for this year’s Sparkles in the Park event. Students from her class were out Monday and Tuesday to put up strings of light, anchor spotlights and install other festive displays for the annual light show. The event, which is put on by the Rotary Club of Guelph, runs nightly from Dec. 15 to 31, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. A New Year’s Eve fireworks show, beginning at 8 p.m., will wrap up the event. Free carousel rides will be available Dec. 15, 21 and 30 after 6 p.m. and on Dec. 31 at 5:30 p.m.
