Guelph Tribune reporter and photographer Jessica Lovell earned second place honours in the Ontario Community Newspapers Association’s Better Newspaper Competition. Her story and photographs about the historic Hart farm’s last days in the heart of the city was deemed second best in the Rural Reporting category. Said judge Gail Sjuberg: “Jessica Lovell’s piece about an historic farm effectively wove a local history story with current development issues. Strong writing and an accompanying historical photo essay made this second-place entry stand out.” The Burlington Post finished first, tackling area land-use issues. The Collingwood Enterprise-Bulletin was third with a feature on the demise of the area bee population and impacts.
