U of G beats goal for United Way

The University of Guelph has exceeded its goal for fundraising for this year’s local United Way campaign.
At a volunteer appreciation luncheon Friday, it was announced that the university raised $591,392, beating its campaign goal of $590,000. The total is expected to rise as late receipts are counted, a news release said.
Highlights of this year’s United Way campaign at the university included a first-time family fall carnival hosted by U of G labour groups and numerous events organized by student associations. The student campaign reached an all-time high of $16,000.
“The university community has once again been exceptionally generous to our local United Way agencies; today’s impressive total clearly demonstrates our individual and collective support for the broader community,” Don O’Leary, U of G’s vice-president of finance and administration, said in the release.
