University of Guelph president Alastair Summerlee will talk about creating change and making a better planet at an event Monday evening that’s open to the public.
The free talk starts at 7 p.m. March 25 at the Village of Arbour Trails in the Village by the Arboretum, which is located south of the university. Summerlee will discuss the U of G’s BetterPlanet Project, a $200-million fundraising campaign that aims to improve the quality of life locally and around the world by focusing on the university’s strengths in food, environment, health and community, a news release said.
Summerlee will also discuss his own humanitarian efforts. He has worked to improve access to education for girls and women in a famine refugee camp in Kenya and has chaired the World University Service of Canada, a leading international development agency, the release said.
During the event, Don O’Leary, the U of G’s vice-president of finance and administration, will discuss the university’s campus master plan, which will guide the U of G’s growth in coming years.
