About 2,000 pigs killed after Tuesday barn collapse

Around 2,000 pigs could not be saved when a barn collapsed at a farm on Jones Baseline in Guelph-Eramosa Township on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the property at around 8:45 p.m. when a barn containing 2,500 pigs collapsed, a news release said.
Two workers who were inside the barn at the time of the collapse were uninjured, it said.
Efforts were made by local farmers and emergency services personnel on scene to save as many pigs as possible, but only about 500 pigs were saved, it said.
The Ministry of the Environment was contacted and attended the scene, said the release.
