Addiction services on move

Homewood Community Addiction Services is moving in the hopes being in a position to better serve its clients.
“It increases our visibility,” said clinical supervisor John Wenstrup of the reason behind the organization’s move.
While the hours will remain the same, on Sept. 5 the organization will be moving from 49 Emma St. to 155 Delhi St., across the street from Homewood Health Centre. “We’re right there in health-care alley, so to speak,” said Wenstrup, noting that the new location makes sense because of its proximity to Homewood Health Centre, Trellis Mental Health and Development Services, and Guelph General Hospital.
“It brings us into closer proximity to the expertise of the hospital,” he said.
The new location is also more visible, which is important because the organization serves clients by “self-referral,” he said.
Homewood Community Addiction Services provides outpatient services for people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling. The service is fully funded by the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network. For more information, call 519-836-5733.
