Alzheimer societies unite

Three area branches of the Alzheimer Society have decided to join forces.
The Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington, the Alzheimer Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and the Alzheimer Society of Cambridge announced Monday that their boards of directors have unanimously approved an intent to amalgamate the three local branches.
“Coming together to form one regional Alzheimer Society will enable us to build a stronger, more sustainable, and unified organization that will enable us to better serve our clients in all three communities,” a news release said.
“We will continue to serve our communities in the way you have come to expect, delivering the same high quality service that we always strive to deliver,” the release said.
“As these changes unfold, we will continue to work together with you – our many community partners, stakeholders, friends and supporters – as we always have in the past,” it said.
The two Alzheimer branches in Waterloo Region have a single executive director, while the Guelph-Wellington branch has its own executive director.
