Appointments for Wellington County officials

Two Wellington County politicians were elected Tuesday to the board of directors of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Wellington County Warden Chris White will sit as one of six members representing the AMO’s rural caucus, while county councillor John Green is one of five members representing its county caucus. Both were elected to posts on the board for the next year at the AMO’s annual conference in Ottawa.
“I believe that more than ever before, rural Ontario needs to stand together to project a strong, unified voice,” White said in a news release. “I am very proud to advocate for Ontario and Wellington residents.”
“I look forward to continuing to tackle the important issues facing rural communities in Ontario,” Green said.
The AMO’s board of directors is made up of elected municipal officials and staff from regions and communities throughout the province. It meets to discuss key municipal issues, sets policy priorities, and serves as a support system for municipalities, bringing forward their messages to the government of Ontario, the release said.
AMO, a non-profit organization, represents almost all of the province’s 445 municipalities.
