Area volunteers celebrate

The Volunteer Centre of Guelph-Wellington is inviting members of the public to its ninth annual Time To Give Community Breakfast to hear all about how volunteers contribute to community well-being.
The event, held in celebration of National Volunteer Week, takes place on Wednesday April 9 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Delta Hotel.
The breakfast will feature as guest speaker Guelph Police Chief Bryan Larkin, who will talk about the connections between volunteerism and community well-being, a news release said.
Volunteers and staff from local community organizations will also share their stories of how volunteering makes the community more vibrant, healthy and resilient, it said.
National Volunteer Week runs from April 6 to 12. The local theme is “Volunteers build caring communities.”
Tickets to the breakfast are available at all Scotiabank locations or online. Call 519-822-0912 or visit www.volunteerguelphwellington.on.ca for details.
