A vigil to remember women killed by men is held in St. George's Square on Thursday Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
The candlelight vigil is to mark the National Day of Action to End Violence Against Women and is held by Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis.
The national day of action was named to remember the 14 women killed at ?cole Polytechnique in 1989, in what has become known as the Montreal Massacre, and all other women who are murdered by men each year, said a news release.
Guest speaker Susan Dube, whose sister was killed in Kitchener's Victoria Park in 1986, will speak about how her sister's murder has impacted her life.
A candle-lighting ceremony and a performance by local singer Diane Archer are also part of the vigil.
An information display with the names of the 14 women killed in the Montreal Massacre, as well as the names of women and children killed in 2007 in Ontario, will be posted in Coco Latte CafÈ in Old Quebec Street that evening.
