Sir Isaac Brock school student Taya Kendall has published “Braids” to raise funds for Children of Bukati, a charity that supports more than 650 HIV/AIDS orphans at Bukati Primary School in Butula, Kenya, said a news release. The charity provides kids with pencils, school uniforms and a lunch program.
The book is illustrated by about 30 Sir Isaac Brock school students, including Taya’s six-year-old sister, Eden.
Taya met Munsch by chance at Guelph Public Library, and when he heard about her fundraising efforts he offered her one of his unpublished stories, said the release.
Taya founded a school paper called the SIB Times in January. It also raises funds for Children of Bukati, which was founded by University of Guelph department of population medicine chair Cate Dewey.
The book is available locally at the Bookshelf, Fighting Griffin Family Karate, the Guelph Children’s Museum, Macondo Books, Merry Go Round, Simply Wonderful Toys and the University of Guelph’s bookstore, said the release.
