Bomb scare on U of G campus

The University of Guelph’s Science Complex was evacuated Saturday afternoon while police investigated a suspicious package.
A university employee contacted Campus Police after finding the package outside, near the building’s loading dock. The Guelph Police Service was contacted, and it was determined that the explosives disposal unit was required, a news release said.
The package was eventually destroyed by the Waterloo Regional Police’s explosives unit, but the investigation is continuing, it said.
The laneway beside the Science Complex, off Gordon Street, was blocked off with yellow tape for part of the afternoon and early evening as a precaution. Homecoming activities were not disrupted.
Anyone with information should call Campus Police at 519-824-4120, ext. 52245.
