Catholic board names new education director

The Wellington District Catholic School Board has picked a new director of education to replace Don Drone, the longtime director who will soon retire.
The board’s trustees have picked Tamara Nugent to take over the board’s top administrative position, as of September.
Nugent is “an innovative and transformational Catholic leader” who began her career with the Toronto Catholic District School Board in 1986, a news release said. She and her family moved in 2002 to London, Ont., and she has served as a board superintendent there since 2007.
“I am committed to building on the history of selfless dedication and professionalism of staff across the district to ensure our students receive an exemplary Catholic education where each student realizes their God-given potential,” Nugent said in the release.
“We warmly welcome Tamara Nugent into the Wellington Catholic family,” board chair Marino Gazzola said in the release.
Nugent is active in the Catholic faith community, serving as a Eucharistic Minister in her parish, as the chair of the Diocesan Youth Ministry Advisory Board and as co-chair of the Bishop’s Dinner and facilitating parish strategic planning, it said.
