Catholic teachers stay on board

Teachers at the Wellington Catholic District School Board will vote Dec. 12 on a new two-year deal negotiated with the board.
The board’s trustees have already ratified the agreement, which covers local matters not covered by the deal worked out in July by the provincial government and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association.
The tentative contract negotiated with OECTA’s Wellington unit covers regular and occasional teachers in local Catholic elementary and high schools. No details of the deal have been released so far.
“This tentative agreement is indicative of the continuous educational service provided for students and families within the school district,” Don Drone, the board’s director of Education, said in the release.
“Particularly given the current environment provincially, we are pleased that we have worked together to reach an agreement on some substantive local matters,” local OECTA unit president Jim Whitechurch said in the release.
