Local GO bus riders may be impacted by a number of schedule changes going into effect Sept. 1.
In order to operate efficiently across the region and to meet changing demand, GO continually monitors its services and make modifications, said a news release announcing changes to schedules in various cities. Changes affecting Guelph include changes to the 31 – Georgetown GO bus, to the 33 – Guelph/North York GO bus, and to the 29 – Guelph/Mississauga GO bus. On the Georgetown line, some trip times have been adjusted within five minutes to reflect actual travel times, including some earlier departures, the release said. Several trips have been extended to serve more stops in Guelph, Acton, Georgetown and Brampton, and stop times may be adjusted, it said.
On the North York bus, the weekday eastbound trip from Georgetown will now start from the University of Guelph at 12:45 and serve the Guelph Central Station, Rockwood and Acton.
The eastbound trip from York Mills at 6:45 a.m. has been extended to serve Mount Pleasant, Georgetown, Acton Rockwood, Guelph Central Station and the University of Guelph.
The weekday eastbound trip from the university at 5:10 p.m. will now leave earlier at 4:40 p.m., and all stop times along the route have been adjusted.
There will also be a new weekday westbound trip from Brampton at 6:20 a.m. that will hit Mount Pleasant, Norval, Georgetown Market, Acton, Rockwood and Guelph Central, before arriving at U of G at 7:50 a.m. Some trips will now require passengers to request stops at the university and at Guelph Central, the release said. Those trips are indicated by a “D” on the schedule.
On the Mississauga bus, school trips have been reinstated, and some trips have been adjusted to reflect actual travel times. There is also a new Friday eastbound trip from Guelph Central at 12:50 p.m. which will arrive at Square One at 2 p.m.
