Coalition seeks public support

Guelph and Wellington County are among the Ontario communities set to take part in a vote aimed at protecting community hospitals.
The Guelph Wellington Health Coalition has already been out at the Guelph Farmers’ Market to talk about the issue of privatization of hospital services.
The coalition will also be distributing newsletters at seniors’ centres, libraries and other community agencies to brief people on the issue in advance of a “community-wide vote or referendum” planned for April 5, a news release said.
The “referendum” asks people to choose between these two statements:
• I support our local public hospitals. I do not want the government to cut their services or contract them out to private clinics.
• I support cutting services from out local public hospitals and contracting them out to private clinics.
The coalition is also distributing mail-in ballots for people to send in by Thursday April 3.
