Cop up on corruption charge

A local police constable facing misconduct charges will appear at a public hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 13 to answer to the charges.
The seven-year veteran of the Guelph Police Service is facing eight charges under the Police Services Act, including three counts of neglect of duty, three counts of discreditable conduct, one count of corrupt practice and one count of consuming drugs or alcohol on duty, a news release said.
Legislation prevents the release of the officer’s identity until the commencement of the hearing, it said.
The hearing will be held at the Guelph Holiday Inn, 601 Scottsdale Dr., and will start at 11:30 a.m.
