Fifteen calls to police about pets trapped in hot vehicles

Guelph police have responded to 15 calls this past week from concerned citizens reporting pets locked in hot vehicles.
While not good news, Guelph Police Sgt. Doug Pflug prefers not to see it as entirely bad news.
“It’s fantastic 15 people took time to call us. It shows people really care,” he said.  First and foremost, Pflug advises residents not to leave their pets in vehicles. Second, he welcomes people calling police if they see this abuse. Call 519-824-1212.
According to steadyhealth.com, “studies have found that an outside air temperature of 35C can lead to an inside air temperature of 65 in just 15 minutes.”
Pflug said no charges were laid, but offenders were given police cautions. No cars had to be broken into, either, he said.
