Gas tax helps Guelph Transit

Guelph is getting $2.82 million as its annual share of Ontario’s gas tax funding for public transit systems across the province, local MPP Liz Sandals announced Tuesday.
It’s the eighth year in a row this has been done, and over those eight years Guelph has received a total of $19.7 million, a news release said. With this money, Guelph Transit has invested in equipment, technology and service enhancements. “This funding allows Guelph Transit to make improvements that attract more riders,” Mayor Karen Farbridge said in the release. “Increased transit ridership helps reduce traffic congestion, smog, and greenhouse gas emissions, even as our population grows.”
